Crisp fall air means harvest-time for crisp, juicy apples and pears. This harvest season, learn to can food right, while supporting FoodRight a non-profit whose mission is to reverse the childhood obesity crisis by changing the way our next generation eats through culinary nutrition education.

Join Master Gardener, Master Food Preserver, and Registered Dietitian, Lisa Kingery, and discover how to make and can 100% natural caramelized applesauce and spiced pear jam. Homemade canned fruits make beautiful holiday gifts. In this hands-on class, students will learn safe canning practices that are easy to understand and apply again at home.

Participants will leave the lesson with a jar or 2 of their own canned creations along with tip sheets, recipes and resources for preserving food at home.

All proceeds go to supporting culinary nutrition education for low-income youth in Milwaukee Public Schools thanks to the generosity of the Boelter Companies
